About Engage MidHudson

The Mid-Hudson Sustainability Planning Consortium is steering the development of the Mid-Hudson Regional Sustainability Plan as part of the Cleaner, Greener Communities Program announced by Governor Andrew M. Cuomo in his 2011 State of the State address. The Program empowers regions to create more sustainable communities by funding smart development practices. Planning teams are partnering with public and private experts across a wide range of fields, along with community residents, to lead the development of regional sustainability plans and to implement the projects that will significantly improve the economic and environmental health of their areas. This effort will guide integrated, sustainable solutions—from statewide investments to regional decision-making on land use, housing, transportation, infrastructure, energy, and environmental practices—to improve our quality of life.

The Mid-Hudson Sustainability Planning Consortium represents municipalities, counties, inter-municipal coalitions, and organizations from the Mid-Hudson Regional Economic Development Council region that have joined together to develop and implement a Regional Sustainability Plan for the seven-county Mid-Hudson Region.

The Consortium recognizes that it cannot successfully pursue a one-size-fits-all approach in a diverse and dynamic region. Any sustainable development strategy must reflect a bottom-up approach that considers particular needs of each individual county and of our communities.

By using a platform that allows members of the community to contribute from their own homes and on their own schedules, we believe that we will be able to engage a broader audience. With this broader audience comes a wider range of ideas and solutions. If you have additional questions about Engage MidHudson, visit our FAQ page.
